The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has agreed announced that churches with big auditoriums should have 200 members gathered during Sunday services.
The number is not expected to be more than 200. This cancelled the previous other the governor made two weeks ago, which only allowed big churches to accommodate not more than 50 worshippers during services, while small churches had 20 worshippers in each service.
In a statement by the Chairman of the state COVID-19 Task Force’s sub-committee on churches, Pastor Samuel John-Peters, churches must ensure that their members observe physical distancing.
He added that for churches to provide hand sanitisers, running water and soaps at their entrances and ensure the use of face mask by all worshippers was also compulsory.
He however, advised pastors of churches to comply with the rules and regulations guidelines, added that the governor had not given directive pertaining to midweek activities, but that “the 8pm to 6am curfew is still in force.”
