Court Sentenced Joggers To 14 Days Quarantined For Violating State’s Directives

A magistrate’s court located in Yaba, Lagos state, has sentenced 34 persons who participating in fitness exercise along the Gbagada-Oworonsoki expressway on Wednesday to 14 days quarantine, one month community service for violating the state’s directives.

Following the Lagos government’s stay at home order and social distancing in a bib to control the spread of COVID-19, residents flouted the directive to engage in fitness exercise On Wednesday were convicted by the court.

Three of the defendants pleaded not guilty. Meanwhile, other defendants pleaded guilty to a one-count charge of working out in a group larger than 20, which is against the state government order.

The court however ruled that the violators will be quarantined for 14 days at a location assigned by the government.
