Imo State House of Assembly, has on Thursday passed pass a bill stoping Ex-governors and speakers from receiving pensions and other privileges as usual.
The bill which was presented by the Majority Leader of the House, Uche Ogbuagu, was given accelerated hearing.
The Majority Leader on an interview said the bill would go a long way in saving cost for Imo State.
The State, he said, loses about N1.3bn every year to offset the bills.
Accordig to him, such amount is good enough to pay worker’s salary in the state.
He added that Imo State will soon enjoy the benefits derivable from the law.
He however applaud Governor Hope Uzodinma for assenting to the bill.
