The Ogun State Governernment has suspends all activities going on in the its forest.
This following the displeasure over the exploitation and illegal felling of tress going on in the Forest Reserves across the state.
According to Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the suspension which is with immediate effect will cover logging, timber exploitation, evacuation of logs and Forest Concession as well as activities in all Governernment and non-governmental open forest areas.
Added that a Committee would be set up to look into all issues affecting the State Forest Reserves and advise Governernment on a comprehensive policy and process to ensure the sustainability of the programmes being implemented in the sector, stakeholders who are interested in submitting Memoranda towards the exercise are advice to visit the Office of the Secretary to the State Governernment, Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta within two weeks from now.
